Did you know the Thermos brand has been around for over a hundred years? The first vacuum flask was created by Scottish scientist Sir James Dewar in 1892. Sir James Dewar was one of the pioneers of cryogenics, the production and study of the behavior of materials at really low temperatures. One of the pursuits of cryogenics has been to preserve organic tissue. While we have successfully reattached thawed fingers, toes and hearts, we are still working on bringing back the dead.
Of course, the technology needed to keep your drink cold is not nearly as complex. Thermos's trademarked slogan: "Protect What You Love" applies to your beverage.
